What are the pivot points on a chart of currency and what they represent?

Hi Jennifer, The pivot point is a technical system developed by floor traders to help determine whether the price is relative to previous market action. Can be classified as a technical indicator averaged number of high and low and closing prices of a currency / index / stock, etc. The first is to determine the overall market trend: if the price of turning point is broken in an upward motion, then the market is bullish, and vice versa. The second method is to use pivot price levels about to enter and exit markets. For example, an operator could put in a limit order to go long if the price breaks a resistance level, and use a lower level of support as a stop. The strength of support and resistance at these levels is generally determined by the number of times that the price has reacted at these levels. The more times the price has reached a support or resistance level, and then reversed from there, the most powerful is that level. These are also ideal place at the technical level of protection, which can be placed outside a support or resistance level.
